Welcome to Huntsman Scholars Lab 03: Global Vision

The Huntsman Scholar Program is dedicated to preparing students for lives of meaning and contribution by providing a platform for success and amplifying opportunities for growth.

Lab 03 is a 1-credit, pass/fail course designed to immerse you in the "Global Vision" pillar. This course offers a unique experiential learning opportunity where you will:

  • Expand your understanding of the global economy and investigate the factors that contribute to the development of global hubs. 
  • Engage in immersive experiences to gain insights into how cultural, political, and historical influences shape local business environments. 
  • Cultivate and strengthen personal and professional skills essential for connecting effectively with diverse individuals and communities. 

Prepare to broaden your horizons and engage deeply with the world around you as part of your Huntsman Scholar journey.

Logistics

By registering for Lab 3, you commit to attending all scheduled classes and participating in the travel experience. Each element of the course has been thoughtfully designed to lead up to the on-site experience and to provide opportunities for reflection afterward. The Lab 3 course schedule includes the following dates:

  • Wed, April 01, 3-4:30PM  

This experience is an integral part of your Huntsman Scholar journey and is generously funded by the Huntsman Foundation. Breakfast will be provided each day during your on location travel, but you will be responsible for covering the cost of your lunch and dinner. Transportation to the Salt Lake airport will also be your responsibility. We suggest budgeting around $400-$500 for meals and incidental expenses. Please note, if you are unable to travel due to unapproved circumstances, you will be required to reimburse the program for the cost of your airfare.

Locations

To ensure a valuable global experience, we selected locations based on four criteria: being a global commerce hub, ensuring safety, offering convenient travel between activities, and maintaining reasonable travel time within a 7-day window.

Lab 3 Commitment and Location Form

Please complete the form below to confirm your commitment to participate in Scholar Lab 3 and to indicate your location preference. The form must be submitted by Wednesday, October 15. Please note that location preferences will be prioritized based on the date you submitted your passport.

After you submit your form, we will sort the preferences and notify you via email with your travel location and the associated BUS 1700 section before Spring registration, expected no later than Wednesday, October 29. Remember that registering for BUS 1700 is required for participation.
