Singapore
Quote Singapore is the most unique place I've ever travelled to and inspired me to change certain aspects of my life for the better. Quote
Welcome to Singapore—where cultures collide, innovation thrives, and history meets the future. You’ll find this global hub to be more than just skyscrapers and street food. Singapore is a masterclass in efficiency, diversity, and vision. It's where Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences coexist in a vibrant, forward-thinking highly safe society. Here, you'll walk from temples to tech parks, from hawker stalls to high-end finance districts. It's a living example of how policy, planning, and people can shape a nation's success. Get ready to explore what it means to be global—not just in travel, but in thought and leadership.
Our business visits are designed to expose you to a broad spectrum of industries and perspectives. In the past, we've met with U.S.-based companies such as Nike, Salesforce, and Koch Engineering, as well as international organizations like BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company). We aim to include a mix of global consulting firms like PwC alongside regional finance, marketing, and technology businesses. The emphasis is on variety—so you can gain insight into why Singapore plays a pivotal role as a business hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
Note: Business visits have not yet been confirmed. The companies mentioned reflect previous experiences and may not be available this spring.
“When we talk about Singapore in class and in country, we often come back to the word “intentional.” Everything—from zoning and education to housing and transportation—feels like it was built with a long-term plan in mind. For students, it’s a direct, well-structured way to explore Asia in a setting that’s safe, efficient, and easy to navigate. Over the past few years, we’ve focused our visit on understanding Singapore’s position as a global business hub while helping students pay attention to how policy and culture are linked.
Students have met with leaders at international banks, government organizations, and globally recognized companies. They’ve explored the culture of the city-state through cooking and markets, the Singapore Zoo, Marina Bay, hawker centres, and the architecture that stretches from colonial shophouses to Supertrees. They see how a small nation built on trade and migration turned itself into a global player through a mix of policy, discipline, and social pressure. And they leave with a better sense of how systems shape outcomes—not in theory, but on the ground.” - Russell Fisher
Previous students have reflected about their experience in Singapore:
Quote It was amazing to understand how business works outside of the U.S. and gave me a new perspective on how governments work given their populations and land mass." Quote
Quote Visiting Singapore was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. While I was there I kept trying to think of things or places that I could compare it to, but nothing adequately came to mind. It was so beautiful, clean, and refreshing to see how big businesses can be sustainable. There is something awe inspiring when you are able to observe just how well man and nature can work together. I think all business students should go to Singapore, or a place similar, to be able to experience business outside America and European standards, because Singapore is above and beyond all those.
