Internships
The Master of Human Resources Program at Utah State maintains strong relationships with several Fortune 500 companies with forward-thinking, strategic HR practices, giving students the opportunity to work on real projects, complete internships, and learn from the industry’s best.
Students in the program are required to complete an internship, rather than a thesis. These experiences often lead to careers with the company.
Tips from past students on locating an internship:
- Be willing to relocate
- Don't limit yourself to one geographical region
- Network with alumni and HR professionals
- Apply to everything you see come through (especially those from the MHR department)
- Creative way to network: set up informational interviews with HR managers at places you are interested in working
- Attend HR diversity conferences
- Attend SHRM lunches and executive lectures
- Start the search process immediately
- Get experience, volunteer if necessary
