Summer: New York City Career Exploration Trip

Travel: May 7-10, 2019 (Tuesday-Friday)

City Overview

This will be our 10th Annual NYC Career Exploration Trip. New York City has long been the global center of commerce and finance. Dozens of Aggies have established successful careers there and we will meet with many of them during our visits.

Requirements

  • Admission to the trip is by interview.  Trip is capped at 12 students.
  • Trip is focused exclusively on career exploration.  Therefore priority will be given to students finishing their 1st and 2nd year and strong interest in living/working in a major metropolitan center.  However all students are welcome to apply.
  • The schedule will consist of 8-10 professional visits over 3 days.  Attendees are required to attend all scheduled events during the trip. 
    • In past years these have included: Goldman Sachs, American Express, JP Morgan, Bank of America, S&P Global
      Partners Group, KPMG, Chubb, RBC Investment Banking, Mackay Shields, Time Inc., JetBlue and Berkadia
  • Faculty Leader:  Paul Fjeldsted, CFA   Senior Lecturer, Dept of Economics and Finance with 20 years of experience in the NYC financial services sector.

Cost

  • Students will book and pay for their own transportation (flight or driving)
  • Students will pay for their own food
  • Students will pay $450 registration feed that will cover the cost of their hotel (May 7-10)
    • $100 deposit due upon admission tot he trip. Remaining amount due to the Huntsman School by April 15.

Flights

  • You must arrange your own flights
    • You may come earlier to stay later for your own sightseeing/touring. You will need to arrange your hotel for any extra days.

Hotel/Transportation

  • The school will arrange Tuesday - Friday (3 nights) hotel reservations (registration fee covers hotel cost).
    • Will use the rental cars and travel by foot in the city.

Total costs are approximately $1000
