Huntsman Post - September 2016

This week I had an opportunity to travel from Logan to Salt Lake City the long way, through Logan Canyon and back around Park City. I took the long way because fall is definitely in the air in northern Utah, and the canyons are bursting with incredible color. It is an amazing time to be outdoors, and I encourage all of you to get out there!

In our Huntsman Post this month, we feature two outstanding members of the Huntsman community, Eliza Thacker, a marketing student who landed a great job with General Mills in Philadelphia, and Dr. Chris Skousen, the Associate Department Head of our accounting program, who was recently elected as President of the International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association. Both Eliza and Chris embody the brand of excellence that we strive for each and every day.

You will also note a story about career development at the Huntsman School. This fall, after much consideration and feedback from our students, we have created a career development function within the Huntsman School, to better provide the type of coaching and mentoring our students need and to create opportunities for our students to engage directly with employers. The centerpiece of this function is a new initiative, titled Focused Fridays, dedicated entirely to career development. You will receive a separate message all about Focused Fridays. I encourage you to review that initiative and find ways to engage with our students.
