Data 5400 Envision Utah Data Project

Envision Utah conducted a statewide survey to understand residents’ needs in transportation, water, open spaces, and housing. Students in DATA 5400, organized into four teams, analyzed this data, turning it into actionable insights. Using Scrum methodology, they efficiently processed and visualized complex datasets, creating interactive dashboards that highlight current challenges and opportunities in Utah. This project provided valuable insights and helped students develop their analytical and entrepreneurial skills, demonstrating the power of data in promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth.

The Housing Team analyzed the disparity between the median salary and the salary needed to purchase an average home in each state. Based on this analysis, they recommended that Utah prioritize building townhomes priced under $358,000 in its fastest-growing area, Utah County.
