Nooyi to Present to a General Audience at USU’s Eccles Conference Center Auditorium at 10:30am on October 29

Utah State University’s Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center will present to former CEO of Chairwomen of the Board of PepsiCo Indra Nooyi its Principle-Centered Leadership Award on Friday, October 29.

Nooyi will also address a general audience of students and faculty at the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium on the USU campus at 10:30 am Friday, prior to the award ceremony. The event will be moderated by Lord Dr. Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE, who was the first recipient of the Principle-Centered Leadership Award. The event will be open to the public, and seating will be on a first come-first serve basis.

“Stephen R. Covey's work – including his famous book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – has always intrigued me,” said Nooyi. “To be coming to the very place where this foundational thinking on leadership originated, a place where these principles continue to be developed is truly exciting. I'm honored and looking forward to it."

Nooyi is considered one of the world’s most exceptional business leaders, and has consistently ranked among the world's 100 most powerful women by Fortune and Forbes. Under her leadership, PepsiCo adopted the Performance with Purpose philosophy, which placed put on social responsibility in line with the company’s financial goals. Nooyi’s recently published autobiography, My Life in Full, is on the Amazon best seller list and she has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes and McKinsey Quarterly.  She is in currently in high demand as a speaker, and also serves on the boards of Philips, Amazon, and multiple institutions of higher learning and nonprofit organizations.

Covey, Chairman of the Board, The Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center at USU. “Ms. Nooyi will become the second ever recipient of the Stephen R. Covey Principle-Centered Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership contributions for getting results in the right way—what she referred to as ‘Performance with Purpose.’”

The Covey Leadership Center is also particularly pleased to welcome Lord Dr. Michael Hastings back to USU as the forum moderator, Covey said.

Lord Dr. Hastings is the former global head of corporate citizenship for KPMG International. He was previously the BBC's head of public affairs and then the first head of corporate responsibility. He was the second chancellor of Regent's University London. He also on the advisory board of USU’s Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center.

The mission of the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center's to develop principle centered-leaders of character and competence who elevate society. Located within the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, the Covey Leadership Center serves as a leadership hub for the university, with programs and resources available to all students.
