USU School of Accountancy Ranks Among “Top 40” for Seventh Year in a Row

October 16, 2020

For the seventh year in a row, the USU School of Accountancy has ranked among the top programs in the nation for the CPA Exam pass rate for first-time candidates in large programs. Utah State University ranked 38 out of 247 institutions with programs that have more than 60 candidates. 73.8 percent of those candidates passed all four sections of the exam the first time.

The placement is approximately 15 points higher than the national average and USU students continue to out-perform students from their peer institutions.

“We have a strong tradition of not teaching to the exam, but rather developing students’ skills in logic, analysis, and reasoning,” said Christopher Skousen, PhD Professor and Department Head School of Accountancy. “I believe this approach, as opposed to memorization, is making all the difference.”

Skousen said the consistent performance of USU students placing in the “Top 40” is a testament of Huntsman Faculty’s teaching excellence.
