USU Alum Receives Rising Star Award

Steve Hurd ’12 received the UACPA Rising Star award at the UACPA’s Annual Inauguration & Awards Banquet. This award is presented to individuals who exemplify excellence and dedication to the UACPA and the CPA profession. Steve joins fellow Aggies Jill Aoki ’13, Jason Tomlinson ‘12, Aubrey Van Pelt ’09, and David Peaden ‘11 who received this award in 2012, 2016, 2009, and 2017 respectively.

Steve is an Audit Manager at Haynie & Company and has over six years of public accounting experience.  Steve has experience with publicly held companies in a variety of industries, Broker-Dealers reporting under PCAOB standards, SEC reporting issues, and complex debt and equity transactions.

Steve graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor degree in Accountancy in 2011 and a Master of Accountancy in 2012. He is a member of the AICPA, and currently serves on the UACPA ProNet Council to assist with organizing the UACPA Leadership Academy.  Steve has been volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America for two years with his local neighborhood troop in West Valley City, and also volunteers with Junior Achievement of Utah.
