40 Under 40

School of Accountancy alum, Heather Allen, ’04 was recognized in the February 2019 edition of Utah Business Magazine as a “40 Under 40” honoree. Heather was recently promoted to tax partner at Tanner LLC, and is one of the few female partners in public accounting in Utah. She said, “Throughout my career, I haven’t had many women with senior management or partner positions to model a career path after.” To help make up for that, Heather has created internal programs and initiatives specifically designed to recruit and mentor future female partners, and it is making a difference.

Heather has over 14 years of experience serving public and private companies. Prior to joining Tanner, she was with a Big 4 accounting firm in Salt Lake City. Heather understands multiple phases of tax compliance and consulting including consolidated filing issues, international tax, multi-state corporations, partnerships, S corporations, individual tax, and tax provisions. Heather graduated at the top of her class from Utah State University and currently serves on the School of Accountancy’s advisory board. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants.
