Biography
Dr. Bradley A. Winn is known in higher education, government, and business as a unique leader bridging academia, politics, and organizations. His expertise in leadership and strategy is respected among business executives, policymakers, and community leaders.
During his distinguished career, he has served the citizens of Utah as an elected member of the Utah State House of Representatives and as the higher education policy analyst for former Governor Michael O. Leavitt. Representative Winn was appointed Vice Chair of the Government Operations Committee and the Public Utilities and Technology Committee. He also served as a member of the Higher Education; Economic Development; Capital Facilities; Natural Resources, Agriculture, & Environment; Revenue & Taxation; and House Rules committees.
Professionally, he has served as Assistant Commissioner of Academic Affairs for the Utah System of Higher Education, Vice President and Dean for Utah Valley University, and Provost & Academic Vice President for Snow College. He was appointed to the Governor’s Rural Economic Development Committee, the State Board of Higher Education Planning Committee, the Joint Liaison Task Force for Public & Higher Education, and Chair of the Chief Student Services Officers State Council.
Before serving in higher education and government, he worked in business and industry as a Senior Manager for the Novations consulting firm and as an engineer at ATK Thiokol for the space shuttle booster program.
Dr. Winn is a Professor of Leadership & Strategy Practice at Utah State University and Executive Director of the MBA Programs in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. He serves on the Utah HR Executive Roundtable Board, the Shingo Institute Advisory Board, the Silicon Slopes Leadership Council, the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, and is Senior Editor for People + Strategy, the journal of SHRM’s Executive Network.
Joining with scholars from around the world, Dr. Winn has focused his research on executive leadership strategies, global workforce management, and organizational virtuousness. He is a prolific author, publishing over 50 articles and seven books, including Managing with a Global Mindset, Leading Change, and Negotiations in Business and Life. Brad is passionate about teaching and conducting research on how leaders can make organizations more productive and humane. He coaches and consults with executives to develop strategies that deliver results and foster innovation.
Brad is a popular, award-winning professor who regularly presents both nationally and internationally. He has received awards as Instructor of the Year, Graduate Mentor of the Year, and the Faculty University Service Award. He has previously taught as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Utah, Visiting Scholar at the American University of Sharjah (UAE), Visiting Professor at the University of Balamand (Lebanon), and as an adjunct at Brigham Young University. He is best known by his MBA students for his courses on global strategy and executive influence.
Brad and his wife, Johanna, are the parents of five children. In addition to spending time with his family and local community, he enjoys music, traveling, camping, and hiking.
