Biography
Ken Sorenson is a Lecturer in the Economics and Finance Department of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. Ken joined USU in 2020 after retiring from Calamos Advisors, LLC, where he served as Vice President on the Institutional Sales team.
He began his career in 1997 as a Sales Manager at Deutsche Boerse AG, located in Frankfurt, Germany. After nearly 5 years in Germany, he transferred to the Chicago office of Eurex AG, a leading global futures and options exchange, where he managed the client development team. In 2006, Ken joined Hovde Capital Advisors, LLC in Washington DC as Senior Vice President, responsible for all capital-raising activities for Hovde’s hedge funds, private equity, and distressed credit funds. After 6 years, he returned to Chicago, where he served in Institutional Sales roles at both Sanborn Kilcollin Partners, LLC and Calamos Advisors, LLC. Ken has significant experience advising institutional investors across a number of investment strategies, including: hedge funds, private equity, distressed credit, convertible bonds, equities and corporate bonds.
Ken earned a Master of International Business degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude with Special Honors in Management, from Jacksonville State University. He was a USAA All-American Scholar, an Academic All-American, and a scholarship-awarded college basketball player. In addition, Mr. Sorenson matriculated at the European Business School for International Business Studies in Germany and is fluent in German.
