Biography

Tom was born and raised in Logan and is a third-generation aggie. Upon his 1986 graduation from the Huntsman School of Business in Finance, he was a securities trader for Fidelity Investments and then supported propellent fill operations for the space shuttle booster rockets at Morton-Thiokol, now Northrup Grumman. While at Morton-Thiokol he was introduced to his “inner nerd” and began taking graduate courses in the Huntsman School of Business as a non-matriculated graduate student. He eventually matriculated and earned an MS in Business Information Systems in 1992. He worked as the assistant manager of the ticket office at USU as they transitioned from a manual system to an automated ticketing system. After five years at the ticket office, he moved to the Huntsman School of Business assisting with all IT needs in the HSB but primarily responsible for the computer labs.
While a graduate student, Tom accepted a teaching position with the MIS department and has taught a variety of computer courses here at USU as well as other institutions of higher education for most of the past 30 years.
Tom loves to tag along with his wife of 38 years as she travels across the US and around the world. He has five children who have all attended USU, the youngest is starting her freshman year in 2022.
Tom has seen a lot of changes in the Huntsman School of Business and is grateful for all the people he has worked with and looks forward working with everyone in the HSB for years to come.
