Biography

Wes Clark joined Utah State University as an Adjunct Professor in Marketing and Strategy in 2023, bringing more than two decades of hands-on experience scaling consumer brands, building demand generation systems, and launching businesses across diverse industries.

Before entering the classroom, Clark built his career at the intersection of marketing strategy and operational execution. He was part of the core team at Purple Mattress that scaled the company from a startup to a publicly traded brand, one of the most successful direct-to-consumer launches in recent memory, including leading international expansion into Canada, the UK, Europe, and other markets. As Head of Marketing Operations and Marketplaces at Kizik Shoes, he worked across the organization to bring strategy and execution together, helping scale the brand to nine-figure revenue.

Professor Clark also co-founded an ecommerce agency and currently operates a fractional CMO practice, working with high-growth startups and established blue-collar service businesses on marketing strategy, demand generation, and brand positioning. His career has spanned construction, consumer electronics, consumer goods, and footwear, a breadth shaped equally by curiosity and an extensive professional network.

In addition to his industry work, Clark co-founded Cache Launchpad, a startup incubator focused on retaining USU-based and community-founded companies in Cache Valley, and founded Scrappy Valley, a professional networking community now in its fourth year of monthly gatherings.

Clark’s teaching draws directly from current practice, bringing live campaigns, active client relationships, and real market data into the course material.
