Biography

William (Bill) Werner is a healthcare educator and program builder committed to advancing excellence in healthcare leadership, operations, and workforce development. He serves as a full-time faculty member at Utah State University, where he is building and expanding the Healthcare Administration program, preparing students to lead in an increasingly complex healthcare environment.

Bill holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from California State University, Northridge, and a Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), reflecting his sustained commitment to professional excellence, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning.

In addition to his academic role, Bill is the founder of Leadership Made Clear, where he partners with organizations to strengthen leadership effectiveness, improve team performance, and drive organizational clarity and alignment.

Prior to entering academia full-time, Bill served as Administrative Director at Logan Regional Hospital, where he led diverse clinical and operational teams across multiple service lines. Under his leadership, his teams achieved top-decile performance in employee engagement, reflecting a strong culture of trust, accountability, and team development. He also led initiatives that produced measurable improvements in healthcare operations, enhancing efficiency, quality outcomes, and patient experience.

Bill brings this executive experience directly into the classroom, integrating real-world application with academic rigor. At Utah State University, he is known for fostering a collaborative, student-centered learning environment and for aligning curriculum with the evolving needs of healthcare systems. His work focuses on developing leaders who are not only operationally skilled but also principled, adaptive, and committed to improving the communities they serve.
