Statewide Ceremonies
If you plan to attend a ceremony at a Statewide Campus, please reach out to the campus coordinator for information on ceremony information, regalia, and other details or visit here.
Regalia
Students participating in the Logan campus Convocation ceremonies must have a cap, gown, and tassel. Students receiving Master's degrees must also have a hood. These items can be purchased from the USU Campus Store, either in person on the Logan campus, or online from USU’s Campus Store. Particularly if using the online option, we recommend purchasing regalia as soon as possible. There is a "grad fair" discount for those who purchase by March 26.
The Huntsman School does not provide honor cords, but if you would like, you can purchase your own online. This is an example of one online vendor previous graduates have used. Honor cords are optional. If you choose to purchase cords, please order the color that corresponds with your USU GPA:
Cum Laude (3.5 - 3.79): Navy Blue
Magna Cum Laude (3.8 - 3.94): Silver
Summa Cum Laude (3.95 - 4.0): Gold
Ticketing
Tickets will not be issued or required for graduates or their guests.
FAQ
Do we need to line up alphabetically?
No, you may stand in whatever order you want.
I’m in a dual major/program, which major/program do I line up with?
It’s completely up to you which program you line up with.
My spouse/friend is a different major/program, can we still sit/line up together?
Yes, you may choose which program you’d like to line up with.
Can I walk early?
If you will be graduating in summer or fall 2025 and would like to participate in the Convocation ceremony this spring, please discuss this with your academic advisor, who can then share your information with the Huntsman School's Commencement coordinator so we can have a name card ready for you. We will need your name, A number, degree (BS, BA, MA, etc), major, and email address.
Please note: Your name will be printed in the program corresponding to your graduation year, regardless of when you choose to participate (or "walk"). If you'd like, you can purchase a copy of that program when it is printed in May.
Can I walk in another college's ceremony?
Sometimes spouses or siblings, etc. will choose to walk together in a ceremony other than the one for their own college. If his is the case for you or a loved one, please reach out to the representative for you college and the representative for the college whose ceremony you plan to join. You can find a list of representatives at the bottom of the USU Commencement Schedule page. (Morgan Kuethe is the Huntsman School Representative.)
How do I obtain those pictures?
Within a week following the ceremony, you can retrieve these photos at the USU Commencement Page.
There wasn’t a name card for me. What do I do?
Fill out a blank name card with your name and degree (example: Master of Business Administration, or Master of Science, Economics) and line up with your program.
How do I carry my Hood? (For Individuals receiving Master's Degrees only)
Fold your hood in half. Lay the color and rounded end towards your body on your left arm. There will be faculty members there to hood you at the ceremony.
Will my parents/guests be able to take pictures?
They may take pictures from their seats, but they will not be able to walk onto the floor. We have professional photographers that will capture key moments free of charge. You can retrieve these photos at usu.edu/commencement about a week after the ceremony.
