Covey Leadership Fellows
“Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground. There’s no greater investment.”
DR. STEPHEN R. COVEY
The Covey Leadership Fellows (CLF) is comprised of students who are interested in developing their leadership and helping others to do the same. This group of students provides support for many of the activities of The Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center and receives additional opportunities for their personal leadership development. Some of these leadership building opportunities include: leadership development workshops, local leadership trips, international leadership trips, obtaining The Stephen R. Covey Leadership Certificate, the 7 Habits Journey, Strengths Coaching, The Executive Challenge, teaching elementary school kids leadership principles, and more.
Monthly EventsAll Covey Leadership Fellows will have the unique opportunity to learn principles of leadership through our monthly events. In the fall of 2019 we will be meeting with Lord Dr. Michael Hasting from the House of Lords, and Father Oliver Williams from the University of Notre Dame. In the past we have met with Paul Huntsman, Joshua Covey, Mark Holland, and other accomplished leaders. View the calendar for more information on monthy events.
Stephen R. Covey
The Stephen R. Covey Leadership Certificate takes students through a self-discovery and personal development journey that extends beyond the reaches of the classroom. Students that want to earn this certificate must complete the following:
- The 7-Habits Journey
- MSLE 3800
- Global Leadership Experience or The Executive Challenge
7 Habits JourneyThe 7 Habits Journey is a 9-week leadership development course. Participants will study and reflect individually and in groups on leadership principles from Stephen R. Covey’s greatest work, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Through the 7 Habits Journey, students will experience greater productivity, improved communications, strengthened relationships, increased influence, and more clarity concerning their life’s purpose.
Coaching is one of the most powerful catalysts for leadership development. Students can apply for and receive one-on-one coaching from a strengths coach. This high impact process will help students become more self-aware, develop their talents, and find ways to live a more meaningful life.
The Executive Challenge
The Executive Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to team up and solve a complex leadership problem. This challenge prepares you to lead in high pressure, high stakes environments. You will be immersed in a simulated business crisis where your ability to strategize through extreme turbulence, think on your feet, and demonstrate poise under pressure will be tested.
Global Leadership Experiences
Students that participate in international trips will study the lives of history’s greatest leaders in the classroom then they will travel to locations around the globe to walk where they walked and learn more about how they successfully navigated complex and cultural challenges. This school year we will be visiting Cape Town, South Africa in May, and London in March.
