Biography

Tom Sargent is the William R. Berkley Professor of Economics at New York University, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including being a recipient with Christopher Sims of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2011 "for their empirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy." Professor Sargent spent much of his career at the University of Minnesota before moving to the University of Chicago and then to Stanford prior to his current appointment. His work has appeared in all of the top economics journals and has done much to define and re-shape what is now called modern macro.
