Biography

Stan Pace is a Senior Partner and Director of Bain & Company’s Dallas office. Over the past 20 years, he has advised CEO’s in a wide range of industries including airlines, consumer products, computers, semiconductors, defense, and aerospace.

Stan’s work in these industries has emphasized corporate strategy and turnaround management. He is the founder and a key leader of the airline and turnaround practices at Bain. He has also been extensively involved in firm governance and has served as a member of Bain’s global executive board.

Mr. Pace obtained his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with high distinction. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, where he graduated as Valedictorian.

In 1997, Mr. Pace temporarily left Bain & Company for two years to lead the turnaround of American Trans Air (ATA) as CEO. ATA was the world’s largest charter airline and the tenth largest US passenger airline. At the time the airline was threatened with imminent bankruptcy. Over the period in which Mr. Pace led ATA, cash balances tripled, profitability was restored and stock price ultimately rose over 500%.
