Biography

Mark W. Kramer is the President and CEO of North American Plastics, a privately-owned group of companies that collectively is the largest independent distributor of semi-finished plastic sheet, rod and tube shapes in North America. The company operates 87 locations across the US and Canada and employs 850 people.

Mark joined Laird Plastics in September 2002, following a 20-year career in chemical distribution that spanned senior executive positions with his family’s business, Kramer Chemicals (1983-1990), its acquirer, Ellis & Everard (US Holdings) (1990-2001), and E&E acquirer, Vopak (2001-2002). 

Since 1988 Mark has been active in the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors serving on the Board of its Institute for Distribution Excellence from 2005-2010 and, after a tour in the chairs, as the Chairman of the NAW Board in 2012.

From 1986-2000, Mark was also active in the National Association of Chemical Distributors and the NACD Education Foundation holding numerous Regional and National Offices. He served as NACD Chairman in 1999-2000. 

Prior to entering chemical distribution, Mark served on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976-1983. During that period, he transitioned from infantry to attend law school and became a Judge Advocate. Following 30 years of total service in the Marine Reserves, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel on March 1, 2005.

Mark is a graduate of Bucknell University (BA-Economics 1976) and Washington University, St. Louis, Law School (J.D. – 1979). He is admitted to the Bar of New Jersey and the Court of Military Appeals. 

Married, with two children ages 33 and 31, Mark and his wife, Julie, now reside in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
