Biography

Tom Hunsaker is a Principal Consultant and Managing Member of Hunsaker Consulting Group, LLC. Prior to founding HCG, he was an Associate and Management Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Hunsaker co-founded Booz Allen’s Entrepreneurial Microspace Center of Excellence, which explores innovative applications for nanotechnologies in space.

He specializes in strategic leadership, change management, process improvement, business development and has deep subject matter expertise in technologies to include space launch, microspace systems in both government, civilian, commercial and international markets. 

Mr. Hunsaker, a Utah native, started his career as a commissioned officer in the Air Force in 2003 and was assigned to Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. He served as an Acquisitions Officer and Project Manager in support of the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) Program under the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) and later with the Missile Defense Program under the 30th Space Wing. In 2007 Mr. Hunsaker left active duty to complete a Masters of Business Administration Degree and return to the industry as a consultant.

 Mr. Hunsaker has served in several key staff and managerial positions supporting multi-million dollar business contracts, acquisition systems, and critical national-level space programs. His Air Force experience spans wing, Numbered Air Force and Major Command levels as well as DoD, joint and cross-functional service assignments, and has led to his success in domestic and global business consulting.

He has experience consulting multiple US government clients to include: The Missile Defense Agency, Pacific Range Support Team (PRST), Operationally Responsive Space, Joint Functional Component Command (JFCC SPACE), Global Strike Command, Air Force Space Command, as well as worked closely with NASA, DARPA, AFRL, and the National Reconnaissance Office. His commercial consulting experience includes over 15 high-tech companies to include well-known defense contractors down to highly invested startups on both the domestic and international levels. Mr. Hunsaker is also an Air Force Reservist with the Reserve National Security Space Institute at Peterson AFB, where he is a member of the faculty and teaches graduate-level leadership, management and space courses.
