Biography

Russell Davies was born in Pocatello, Idaho and joined the military at age 18. He served 5 years with the 101st C.co 3-187th Infantry Regiment and was deployed overseas to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Russell was awarded an Army Commendation medal with Valor and received a Purple Heart.

At 23, Russell returned to Pocatello and moved to White Salmon, Washington where he started kayaking competitively. He discovered kayaking to be a source of relief and rehabilitation in coping with post-military life. In establishing himself as a recognized athlete in the extreme kayaking community, he learned that outdoor sporting is as reliant on its community as it is on the activities themselves. Since coming to this realization, he’s shaped his passion and focus around sharing the benefits of outdoor recreation with veterans of the U.S. Military also inflicted with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression through his non-profit PTSD (Professional Transformation Sports Development).

As the founder of P.T.S.D. Russell focuses on educating veterans on how to overcome P.T.S.D. and/or depression through engagement in outdoor sports such as kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing and snowboarding alongside other veterans who share a similar passion.
