Biography

Creede received a bachelor's degree from BYU-I in I/O Psych. Following school, he worked for a year as an account manager for a utility billing company. After working for a year, he attended USU's dual MHR/MBA program. His graduate internship was with Polaris Inc. in a manufacturing facility in Wisconsin doing HR generalist work.

Following the MHR/MBA program, he joined Verizon's leadership development program. The program consisted of 2 rotations over the course of 2 years. His first rotation was in compensation and his second was as an HRBP. After graduating from the VLDP, he moved into another HRBP position supporting Verizon's B2B out of their Utah facility.

In his free time, he plays disc golf, goes to the movies, hikes around, eats donuts, and takes weekend trips to interesting places.

Q: Why did you choose the Huntsman School Master of Human Resources Program?
R: I wanted a graduate program that allowed me to use my I/O Psych knowledge and that provided me with opportunities to get my foot in the door at large, respected companies.

Q: What was your favorite part of the Huntsman School MHR Program?
R: My favorite part of the program was the time I got to spend with my cohort and the relationships that I built. I have friendships that will likely last until I die. I also really enjoyed the classes that focused on HR strategy, like Steve Milovich's course.

Q: What advice would you give current MHR students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in HR?
R: The work really begins after your graduation, but doing a lot of work while in school can give you a good foundation for being successful in the real world. Be open to opportunities. Do lots of different jobs. Be willing to work in spaces outside of HR. Stop comparing yourself to others, everyone has their own journey.

Q: What are your 2-3 main job duties?
R: End-to-end HR support, so my work can change significantly from one week to the next. In the last 6 months, I have spent a lot of time on staffing, providing compensation support, and acting as a career coach.
