Biography

With 10 years of front-line manager experience in various different industries, Steven always thought that his career was in some form of management. Over the years however, he discovered his love for Human Resources. A major course shift lead him to relocate his family and change his degree in Engineering and Architecture to a Human Resource Management path. After graduation, he continued to pursue his passion for learning as an HR professional. After obtaining certifications, rebuilding internship programs, and honing his overall HR knowledge, there was still more that he wanted to learn about the profession. His wife and he decided that they would relocate their family again, this time to Utah State University. Since graduating with his Master's in HR he has joined the Woodgrain Corporate team where he continues to sharpen his skills and contribute to a growing global team.

R: The Huntsman School Master of Human Resources is well recognized and has valuable connections with great organizations/businesses around the US.

Q: What was your favorite part of the Huntsman School MHR Program?
R: Internships are pivotal in learning how to become an HR professional.

Q: What advice would you give current MHR students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in HR?
R: Stay hungry and keep learning. You are never done discovering new knowledge or skills. Explore more ways to advance your skills through exposure to unfamiliar experiences and deepening your knowledge.

Q: What are your 2-3 main job duties?
R: Partner with corporate leadership in developing strategies to update or make changes to their departments.

Responsible for implementing and leading HR strategy in the Corporate division.

Under the direction of the CHRO create or present new frameworks and policy updates to executive leadership teams.
