Biography

Brae grew up in Burley, Idaho and attended Utah State for his BS in Accounting, Master of Human Resources, and MBA degrees. During the MHR program, Brae was president of the MHR Student Association and also completed an internship at Ford Motor Company. Upon graduating he joined the HR Development Program at Marsh McLennan in New York City where he completed 3 rotations across various HR disciplines and specialized in HR Analytics. After he finished that program he started his current role as an HR Analytics & Strategy Partner where he oversees global workforce reporting & analytics for the CPO of Marsh and manages strategy enabling projects. Brae's passion is enabling results through conscious strategic partnerships with business leaders--speaking their language, and having a voice backed with data.

Q: Why did you choose the Huntsman School Master of Human Resources Program?
R: The "All In" culture of the MHR was the biggest draw to join. As I researched universities where I could complete my graduate studies, no other program projected such a great focus on collaboration paired with amazing job placement. The dual-MBA addition was also an important draw for me, as it supplements HR-specific expertise with broader business exposure.

Q: What was your favorite part of the Huntsman School MHR Program?
R: The people are the best part of the MHR Program. Amazing advisors, professors, and classmates made for an experience that I now look back on with fondness and gratitude. Maren Stromberg, Julie Pond, Chris Hartwell, and so many others impacted me both professionally and personally for good.

Q: What advice would you give current MHR students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in HR?
R: I would advise any student in the HR field to ensure they build their analytical expertise, not only during the program, but through work experiences. Oftentimes students have to seek out these types of experiences working with data, but they become invaluable as students enter the workforce. The HR of the future is all about partnership with business leaders and telling actionable stories with data. "Fluffy" HR without line-of-sight into top and bottom line results isn't going to cut it in the digital age.

Q: What are your 2-3 main job duties?
R: Manage Marsh's global workforce reporting and deliver insights to the Executive Committee and HR Leadership Team.
Enable Marsh's people strategy through actioning global strategic projects.
Perform ad-hoc analyses and deliver responses to executive questions.
