Students work hard to put scholarship money to good use

By Dave Patel, director of executive outreach

Through the support of alumni and friends like you, we have increased student scholarship support four-fold in the past five years, and last year the Huntsman School of Business awarded 487 scholarships amounting to $981,000.

Our goal is to raise annual scholarship support to $1 million. With your help, we can get there.

As you know, we are focused on meeting the challenge set forth four years ago by Jon Huntsman to create a top-tier business school. Just in the past two years, we have dramatically raised our game, hiring world-renowned faculty members such as Stephen R. Covey and William F. Shughart II, and securing private and public funding for a new building.

Students say scholarships help them focus on better preparing for graduation.

The impetus behind a new building, fantastic new faculty and incredible “outside-the-classroom” programs is all about our students, because we firmly believe they are our greatest assets. This year, our Beta Alpha Psi student chapter achieved Gold Status, for the 33rd consecutive year, a national record. Similarly, for 15 consecutive years, our Institute of Management Accountants student chapter received the Gold Level Award of Excellence designation, an honor that no other chapter in the nation has achieved. A team of students from the business and engineering schools competed in the Microsoft Imagine Cup, the world’s premier student technology competition, and placed second out of 22,000 entries. They are now working to create a for-profit company from that impressive idea. And another team of students built a school in one of the poorest regions of India!

These students are just like you – energetic, passionate and full of ideas and optimism; but they need your help. Even though public funding for higher education has decreased dramatically, the costs have not.

Thank you for your support, and dare mighty things.

Please give now.
