Jon M. Huntsman School of Business Students Selected as Finalists
LOGAN, UT – A team of students from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is in Vancouver, Canada, Nov. 12-14, competing in an international finance case competition.
The team was invited, along with 11 other finalists, to Vancouver for the final round of the Finance International Case Competition hosted by Simon Fraser University. They were one of 40 teams invited to participate, with teams participating from as far away as Spain, Hong Kong and Singapore.
To get into the finals, the team was given a week to analyze finance case and submit their report to a panel of judges. The judges responded with an email telling them their submission was of the highest caliber and invited them to Vancouver for the final round.
In the final round, the team will be given a more rigorous case and three hours to come up with a solution. They will also have a chance to network with the finance professionals who sponsored the competition.
The team is made up of two brothers, Scott and Fletcher DuHadway, and a friend, Loren Stahle. Only one of the three, Stahle, is a finance major. Both of the DuHadways are majoring in operations management. Team members maintain that the diversity of their backgrounds strengthened their submission.
Paul Fjeldsted is with the team in Vancouver as the faculty adviser. He hopes that the team’s success will resonate with other students at the Huntsman School of Business.
“It’s this kind of experience that can help our students see that they are prepared and can compete with the very best business schools have to offer,” said Fjeldsted.
