In 2005, Curt Howes founded Organization Performance Strategies (OPS), a consulting firm that specializes in strategic change and in improving human and organizational performance.

Before he established OPS, he worked for eight years as an associate partner for Accenture, one of the world’s largest management consulting firms. There he assisted oil companies, utility companies, start-up firms, and consumer product organizations. While there he also was the "global human performance lead for organization and change strategy in resources."

Before working for Accenture he worked for Exxon for 18 years as a manager and internal consultant. There he worked in research, contributed to the area that focused on the company’s chemical business and the areas that were tasked with finding, producing, refining, and marketing oil.
