Biography

Alan Warnick received an M.A. in Organizational Behavior in 1973 and a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University 1971. He joined Utah State in August of 2000 and is the current Executive-in-Residence with the Department of Management and Human Resources. Alan is a senior level human resources executive with broad experience in large, multidivisional and international corporate environments. Previous positions include Chief Human Resources Officer for Enron Chemical and Great Lakes Chemical Corporations, Chief HR Strategy and Change Officer for Enron Operations, Reliant Energy, and consulting positions with Chase Manhattan Bank and American Training.

Alan has initiated and led many large-scale organizational change projects focused on building organizational capability. He has substantial experience in reengineering critical HR processes, working with business units to develop high-impact people strategies and realigning the mission, role, and structure of the HR function. He has extensive background in business process reengineering, mergers and acquisitions, culture change and restructuring of benefit and executive compensation plans, organization development and learning.

His corporate accomplishments have been widely published and cited in leading professional journals and magazines, and he has been a guest speaker at numerous management meetings and professional conferences.

Since coming to USU, Alan has also coached USU’s HR academic teams. His teams have won the state and regional competition five years in a row and placed 2nd at the national competition in 2010.

Alan and his wife, Helen, live in North Logan and have five children.
