Minor in Business

Business Minor IconThe Business minor is designed for non-business students seeking to acquire the fundamental business knowledge and skills in areas including finance, marketing, and operations, that can complement any program of study. In addition, students will gain strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

MINOR REQUIREMENTS (21 Credits)

The Huntsman School of Business offers a minor for non-business major consisting of the courses presented below.  Completion of this Minor will acquaint students with each business discipline and is designed to develop a general business background and perspective.  Students will be responsible for completing prerequisite courses where required.  A 2.5 GPA is required in the six courses for the minor. Prerequisites will be enforced.

Prerequisites

ACCT 2010 STAT 1040, STAT 1045, Math 1030 or Math 1050, and a GPA 2.5 or higher
FIN 3200 Math 1050, ACCT 2010: choose one statistics course from STAT 1040, STAT 2000, STAT 2300, STAT 3000, or PSY 3010. A declared major, 40 credits and a GPA of 2.67 or better
* MSLE/MGT 3110 A declared major, 40 credits and a GPA of 2.67 or better
* MSLE/MGT 3500 A declared major, 40 credits and a GPA of 2.67 or better
MGT 3700 STAT 2000 OR STAT 2300, a declared major, 40 credits and a GPA of 2.67 or better
* MSLE/MGT 3800 A declared major, 40 credits and a GPA of 2.67 or better
MIS 2100 No prerequisites
STAT 2000 One of the following within the last year or three consecutive semesters (including summer); ACT Math score of at least 25; SAT Math score of at least 580; Grade of C- or better in MATH 1050 or MATH 1100; or satisfactory score on the Math Placement Exam.
STAT 2300 One of the following within the last year or three consecutive semesters (including summer); ACT Math score of at least 25; SAT Math score of at least 580; Grade of C- or better in MATH 1050 or MATH 1100; or satisfactory score on the Math Placement Exam.

* Update: Select MGT courses have been updated to MSLE effective Spring 2019. Students who completed courses under the MGT course prefix do not need to complete the course again under the MSLE prefix.
