SOA Welcomes New Faculty, Dr. Tim Seidel - August 2014

The School of Accountancy welcomes Dr. Tim Seidel as the newest member of the faculty.

Dr. Seidel received his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arkansas. He was a recipient of the Accounting Doctoral Scholarship (ADS) administered by the AICPA. His teaching interests include topics/courses in financial accounting and auditing. His research to-date has focused primarily on auditor independence, audit quality, audit risk and auditors’ response to risk, the effects of auditing standard changes, the effects of accounting standard changes, and the effect of disclosure transparency on earnings quality. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Seidel was the manager of corporate reporting at Darden Restaurants Inc., responsible for all technical accounting matters and SEC reporting. Prior to his experience at Darden, Dr. Seidel was a manager in the audit practice of EY. He managed and participated in audits of companies in the manufacturing, technology, healthcare, and utilities industries. In his free time, Dr. Seidel enjoys exercising, playing sports, serving and participating in his church, and spending time with his family.
