The Huntsman School of Business is the oldest continuously operating business school west of the Mississippi River, having its origins in 1889 as the Commercial Department of the Agricultural College of Utah. The first class of eight graduated in 1894. As the university grew, so did the business department, evolving to a college of commerce, and then the college of business in 1970, and then to the Jon M.
