Career Path takes Recent Graduate to Africa and Back

It has been quite a journey for Bryson White since he graduated in 2010 with a degree in entrepreneurship, a journey that has included stops in Africa, Seattle, and New York City.

Immediately after graduating, Bryson and his wife, Kristy, moved to Kenya. Bryson taught economics courses to high school students and did market research and basic consulting for micro-entrepreneurs. Kristy, who graduated from Utah State University in 2010 with a degree in social work, conducted research on the effects HIV and AIDS were having on the community.

The next stop for the Whites was Seattle, where Bryson got a job with Banyan Branch, a communications and social mediafirm. He consulted with communications teams for large philanthropic foundations and non-profit organizations.

Bryson is now in New York City where Kristy is pursuing a graduate degree in social work from New York University. During his time in New York, Bryson worked with the William J. Clinton Foundation, where he was on the communications team for the Clinton Global Initiative.

“It was a phenomenal experience to work with some of the best minds in business, government, and non-profit organizations,” Bryson said. “They were working together to help solve some of the bigger problems we face like poverty and global health issues. It was all about setting common goals and working together to fix some of the unfortunate things about the world.”
