Kathryn Newman

Biography

Kathryn is thrilled to join the UWLP as Partnership Coordinator.

As the Communications Manager for Vineyard City, Kathryn enjoyed working in public relations and community engagement. Kathryn implemented community engagement events, created the Vineyard Children's Library, Vineyard Community Garden, Vineyard Kindness Week and Vineyard Cares. She also built relationships with partners and stakeholders including UVU, Woodbury, Get Healthy Utah, CUWCD, Utah County emergency management team, Orem Community Hospital and many others. She also worked with media outlets, oversaw the city's social media and initiated city website redesign.

A graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Public Relations, she enjoyed opportunities right after college working as a scheduler in the Washington D.C. offices of Congressmen Bill Orton of Utah and Congressman Ron Kind of Wisconsin. She also worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in their Public Affairs Office in Washington, D.C. as a media relations specialist. After raising her 5 children and relocating to Utah, she graduated in April 2022 with a master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southern Utah University, with an emphasis in Professional Communications and Social Media and Public Relations.

Kathryn and her husband Mark and their 5 children love to travel, play games and spend time together.
