Business Council (BC)

As a member of the council, you will be able to make a lasting impact in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business by assisting the Business Senator in fulfilling their platform throughout the upcoming school year. While the Senator position is elected, the President, Executive Director, Committee Directors, and members are hired as USU employees.

Specific Duties of a Business Council member include:

  • Be assigned to a committee such as Marketing, Events, Advocacy, or Development
  • Attend weekly Council meetings and meet with your committee regularly
  • Create proposals for funding events and initiatives
  • Plan and execute events such as Business Week, Finals Breakfast, and a Senator Debate
  • Assist with HSB events such as Huntsman Career Expo, Clubs in the Courtyard, and Focused Fridays

Members of the Business Council are expected to be exemplary representatives of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. They must be active inc lass and extracurricular activities, including participation in Focused Friday events. The Business COuncil represents the student body, their interests, and goals.

The purpose of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is to be an engine of growth for our community, the state, the nation, and the world, and to be a career accelerator for our students. The Business Council embodies this vision and promotes the school to the wider campus.

To be selected into this highly competitive group, be sure to save the dates and follow the instructions carefully. Upcoming applications are for the Fall 2024 through Spring 2025 academic year.

Application Requirements

  • Must have a declared business major
  • Have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be able to contribute 5-10 horus per week; up to 20 hours for Business Week

Application Schedule

  • February 20, 2024: Application opens
  • March 24, 2024: Application deadline
  • March 27-April 8, 2024: Interviews held
  • April 19, 2024: Selected candidates will be notified
