Prep Courses (Once Admitted)

In order to enhance the probability of student success in the Huntsman MHR program, all candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the four topics below. Once admitted into the program, students will need to take the MyEducator course if they did not pass an equivalent course during their undergrad with a C- or higher. Links for those courses are below.

How Do I Fulfill The Business Acumen Requirements?

You can demonstrate proficiency in one of three ways.

  1. Complete USU Course: If you have already taken the course within the past 5 years and received a C- or better, then you have fulfilled the requirement.
  2. Compete My Education Challenge Exam/Course: The MyEducator courses are a convenient option to complete the Business Acumen if you have not complete the required courses prior to your application. In order to fulfill the Business Acumen requirement through MyEducator, you must receive an 80% or higher on the challenge exam OR on the Post Test in the MyEdcuator course. You have one chance on the challenge exams and you have three chances on the course post tests to accomplish this. The grades you receive through MyEducator will not affect your USU GPA.
  3. Complete an equivalent course prior to applying to the program (at another accredited institution): The MHR office will evaluate your transcript(s) that are submitted with your application to determine if a course equivalent to the USU course was completed with in the past 5 years and a grade of C- or better was received. See the USU Course Transfer Guide for more information.

How Much Will It Cost Me?

  1. Each prep course costs $69.99 with the MyEducator program. The Challenge exams are free.

How Do I Know That I've Passed?

  1. You will need to pass the final assessment in each MyEducator prep course with an 80% or better or pass the challenge exam with an 80% or better.  Once you have completed the assessment, the MHR office will be notified by MyEducator.
  2. You will need to complete a course with a C- or better before you start the upper-division coursework.

How Long Do The MyEducator Courses Take To Complete?

  1. The time required to complete the courses will depend on your previous experience with the topic.
  2. If you feel confident in the course material you can start with the assessment.
  3. Some students have said that it takes approximately 60-80 hours to complete all courses for students with limited background in the topics.

Whom Should I Call If I Am Having Technical Difficulties?

1. All transcript issues should be directed to the School of Graduate Studies.
2. For all MyEducator issues, please contact support@myeducator.com.
3. For all USU courses, please contact the Help Desk (435.797.4357).

Do I Need To Be Enrolled As A USU Student To Start The MyEducator Courses?

1. You can take the MyEducator courses at anytime.
2. Once you pay for a MyEducator prep course, you will have lifetime access to the course.

  • Prep courses must be completed before a student begins the MHR courses.

What to Expect Once Your Application is Complete

Once an application is complete, an admissions committee comprised of MHR faculty and staff will review each application and assesses the applicants’ qualifications for the program. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in one of the Interview Days events, after which final admissions decisions will be made.

Interview Days

In order to get to know and evaluate the candidates outside of their application, the program hosts several Interview Day events on-campus during the application season (typically on Fridays). These events also prepare applicants for what they might experience as a student during corporate flyouts, when being recruited for internship or full-time job placement. The Interview Day includes:

  • Two formal interviews
  • A social hour with mocktails and sodas
  • Individual Assessment
  • A group-based activity
  • A group meal

All components are attended by MHR applicants, current MHR students, alumni, faculty and staff. The admissions committee meets the week after the Interview Days to make a final admission decision. The program reaches out to applicants once a final decision is made.

What to Expect if You are Admitted to the MHR Program

For applicants that are admitted into the program, there are a few important opportunities you will want to be aware of.
