Biography

Gene graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics from Utah State University. After his graduation, he worked with Morgan Stanley as an Investment Analyst. Following Morgan Stanley, Gene spent ten years with Zions Bank as a Commercial Portfolio Manager, in which he specialized in Underwriting and managing the credit quality of a large commercial loan portfolio.

In 2006, Gene founded SAL Management Group with his two business partners and currently oversees the financial controls of the business as the CFO. SAL Management owns and operates Assisted Living Communities in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado and is ranked in the top 100 largest providers in the country. SAL operates over 30 communities with almost 1,400 units and over 1,300 employees. Gene has been instrumental in leading the growth through the development of new construction and acquisitions of new management contracts. In addition to Assisted Living Communities, Gene and his partners started a closed-door pharmacy, which they sold in 2018. They also purchased Atlas Homecare and Hospice in 2016. Gene has had the opportunity to sit on the board of start-ups and enjoy seeing new entrepreneurs fulfill their dreams and grow their businesses.

Gene lives in Cache Valley, Utah with his wife and four daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling the country with his family and being outdoors and skiing with his daughters.
