Biography

Michelle Smith became Chief People Officer for the Larry H. Miller Management Company (MMC) in April 2022. In this role, she leads the organization's People & Culture strategy, supports each portfolio company's People & Culture executives, assists in the successful integration and onboarding of newly acquired businesses, and helps ensure the LHM companies remain the best place in town to work.

Michelle was previously appointed Senior Vice President, Integration and Operations, for the LHM companies in February 2021, and was responsible in this role for defining, implementing, and revising merger and acquisition integration and onboarding practices for newly acquired businesses.

Prior to her role with MMC, Michelle cultivated more than 20 years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry gaining business strategy expertise in marketing, sales, and human resources.  Most recently, Michelle served as Chief People Officer for the National Basketball Association’s Utah Jazz franchise.

Her commitment to life as a mother first and executive second, as well as the values of hard work, compassion and learning, translate into her commitment to people and organizational success. Professional and personal lived experiences have cultivated a strong understanding that no matter the industry, title or position we are all in the “business of relationships”.

Michelle was most recently named as one of Utah Business Magazine’s 2020 “30 Women to Watch” and serves on the board of Encircle House, is a founding board member of Women in Sports & Events (WISE), and was a former co-chair of the Gail Miller Women’s Leadership Group.
