Biography

Ashley Morrey is a non-traditional student in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business studying business management with an emphasis in human resources. Ashley is passionate about finding others’ unique strengths and helping individuals develop and apply those strengths to reach their full potential. While growing up in Georgia, she learned the art of southern hospitality and tries to share that warmth with those she works with. After her husband’s unexpected death, Ashley spent a year working at her children’s school and exploring different career paths. She discovered her own strengths and has decided to apply them to the exciting field of human resources. Ashley’s strengths include leadership, adaptability, and academic excellence.

She is currently serving as the president of Utah State University’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter. In this leadership role, she is pioneering the introduction of virtual events to adapt to the social distancing requirements of COVID-19. She is piloting a new HR Leadership lecture series inviting HR specialties from around the country to speak about their specialties. Ashley is also expanding the chapter’s sphere of influence by inviting other Utah student (SHRM) chapters to this lecture series.
As an HR intern with Melaleuca, she was able to quickly adapt to remote work. With her enthusiasm and attention to detail, she learned about the organization, made recommendations, and impacted the company’s employee experience.
Ashley is a Huntsman Scholar; her dedication to her education is evident in the 4.0 she received last semester. Ashley enjoys finding how each of her classes relates to her life and can apply to her future career. To Ashley, college is more than just getting a grade or a diploma; it is about gaining understanding.

Ashley looks forward to an engaging career in Human Resources after gaining her Master’s in Human Resources and a Master’s in Business Administration from Utah State University.
