Biography

Rob is currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Alta Ventures Mexico. An early-stage venture capital firm with its primary focus in Mexico. Just previous to that position, Rob was a Vice President at Rhomobile where he ran sales, operations, and finance, successfully guiding the company to an exit with Motorola Solutions. That exit represented the highest IRR achieved to date by both its institutional investors. Rob spent two years before that as a venture capital professional with vSpring Capital and as a founding team member of Alta Ventures Mexico. In that position, Rob learned best practices in deal sourcing, due diligence, venture deal structuring, and venture portfolio management. He held Board Observer positions with The American Academy, Aeroprise, Public Engines, and FamilyLink among others.

Rob received his MBA and JD degrees from Brigham Young University. While studying at Brigham Young, Rob was fully entrenched in entrepreneurship and private equity. Rob won and placed in various business plan competitions as part of SchoolTipline.com, including a semi-finalist finish at the University of Texas’ Global Moot Corporation competition. Additionally, Rob was on the deal team for Brigham Young University’s student-run private equity fund, Cougar Capital, where he participated in an investment in Fusion-IO. Fusion-IO recently went public and produced the largest return in that fund’s history. As an undergraduate student, Rob attended Utah State University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Liberal Arts and Science. After his time at Utah State, Rob spent a year in Washington DC working for United States Senators Mike Crapo and Robert F. Bennett.
