Biography

Paula Fryland is executive vice president of commercial banking at Zion Bank, a role she has had since July 2017. She joined Zions Bank in August 2016 as executive vice president and director of consumer and business banking. In 2017, she was listed among Utah Business magazine’s “30 Women to Watch.”

Fryland he has 30 years of experience leading change and innovation in the banking industry. Prior to joining the company, she spent 25 years with PNC in increasing roles of responsibility, most recently as President of the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey markets. She also served as an Executive Vice President in the PNC Financial Service Group and later led PNC Healthcare. In 2007, she was named by Treasury and Risk magazine as one of the top 100 Most Influential People in Finance. 

Fryland chairs Zions Bank’s Women’s Advisory Board, which meets throughout the year and brings together women business owners in various fields to better learn how to advance women in Utah. She is a board member of the Community Foundation of Ogden Valley and is also a supporter of Weber County Pathways and the International Dark-Skies Association. During her tenure with PNC, she was an executive committee member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Chamber’s CEO Council for Growth. In addition, she was co-chair of the Barnes Foundation Corporate Council and was a member of the Select Greater Philadelphia Operating Committee, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Corporate Council, the Temple University Leadership Council, and the Forum of Executive Women. Fryland holds a bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers College.
