Biography

Mark Erickson received a Master’s of Accountancy in 1995 from USU and began a career in public accounting with the Salt Lake City-based firm, Tanner & Company (now known as Tanner LLC). He spent four years with Tanner before accepting a position with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC. As an employee of the SEC, Mark reviewed numerous IPOs, repeat offerings, and periodic reports and was heavily involved in the issuance and subsequent resolution of SEC comments. His unique knowledge of the SEC has been a driving force in the growth of Tanner. After spending two years with the SEC, Mark rejoined Tanner. In 2001, at the age of 32, he was the youngest person to be promoted to a member of the board of directors of Tanner & Company. He has been serving as a partner in the firm ever since.

Mark currently serves as Managing Partner and head of Tanner’s mergers and acquisition consulting practice. Mark has played a key role in increasing the firm from approximately 25 personnel to over 260. Mark is a Certified Public Accountant, served on the Advisory Board for the USU School of Accountancy from 2005 to 2012, and has been a member of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business National Advisory Board since 2012. Mark and his wife, Jennifer Needham Erickson (BA English ’94), were named the 2011 Young Alumni of the Year.
