Biography

Douglas was born in Texas, but grew up in a military family, moving every one to three years of his younger life.  He lived in Germany, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, and New Mexico.

He graduated from high school in El Paso, Texas, then served an LDS mission to Hong Kong, learning Cantonese Chinese.  After returning from his mission, and while studying Chinese at Brigham Young University, he spent a semester in China at Nanjing University.

After graduating from BYU with a B.A. degree in Chinese languages, he chose to attend graduate school at Utah State University.  he was drawn by the location, the smaller class sizes, and the programs like the Partners in Business activities.  Also, during his first year in graduate school, he married Julie Austin, from Springville, Utah.

After working with WordPerfect Corporation for a short period of time, he took advantage of an opportunity to work with a small, 18-month company named United Education Centers, which later changed its name to TestOut Corporation.

After working in various positions for the company, Douglas became President of TestOut Corporation in 2003 and still serves in that position.  The company, now in its 20th year of business, is enjoying some aggressive growth and a very bright outlook.

Douglas and Julie are still raising five wonderful children, and are celebrating over 20 years of marriage.
