Biography

Joe Brandl has worked for years honing his expertise of primitive bushcraft skills. His many years as a Boy Scout leader, vast experience as a hunter and wilderness adventurer, and his expertise in tanning animal hides have transformed him into a warehouse of knowledge and skills. In 1988, he began to operate a small tannery at the feet of the Wind River Range in Dubois, Wyoming. Since then, Absaroka Western Designs and Tannery has grown into a large tannery facility and showroom, producing western décor for homes, lodges, and businesses.

His love for the outdoors guided him to attend the University of Nebraska where he obtained a B.S. in Natural Resources and Wildlife Management. Joe's expertise also led him to be the oldest participant to survive the 21-day challenge on Discovery Channel's Naked and Afraid.
