Biography

Joe Armstrong earned a bachelor's degree in production management in 1971 and a master's of accounting in 1973, both from Utah State University, later earning a CPA license in California. For the last several decades he served as an executive for both public and private companies. He has had primary responsibility for ensuring that two companies were listed on the NASDAQ and has raised over $200 million in equity. He has been involved in founding, purchasing, merging, selling, integrating and restructuring numerous other companies. Mr. Armstrong was affiliated with State of the Art, Inc., the nation’s largest manufacturer of small business accounting software, for approximately 15 years. Most recently, Joe was involved in successfully restructuring over $80 million in debt to common equity for Sorrento Networks Corp., a leading supplier of telecommunication equipment. The company’s turn–around prompted PricewaterhouseCoopers to select Mr. Armstrong as a finalist for the telecom industry’s "CFO of the Year" in 2003.

Besides rock-and-roll posters, Mr. Armstrong owns original art posters from Czech artist Alphonse Mucha and even has a Tiffany lamp on his home office desk.

His spouse, Linda, received a bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles with a minor in business administration from USU in 1973. They reside in Dana Point, California, and support the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business National Advisory Board Scholarship.
