Study Abroad Courses

What classes can I take while studying abroad?

One of the advantages of participating in a summer study abroad program is the opportunity to take required business courses within a global context. Talk to your advisor about the courses you can take. You can take up to 13 credits from among the following courses*:
 

  • BUS XXXX (course number TBA): Science and Business (3 credits) -Note: All participating students are required to take this course. The purpose of this course is to help develop critical thinking skills in understanding how science issues relate to business and how business is impacted by scientific innovation.)
  • ECN 3400: International Economics (3 credits)
  • FIN 3400: Corporate Finance (3 credits)
  • MGT 3110: Managing People and Organizations (3 credits)
  • MGT 3500: Fundamentals of Marketing (3 credits)
  • MGT 3700: Operations Management (3 credits)
  • Communications workshop (1 credit) - All students will enroll in this workshop during the three weeks on campus. More information will be provided later in the semester.
     

Spring Semester Course Requirements:

Spring Semester all students are required to take a three (3) credit orientation course. This course prepares students for their summer experience. The purpose of the course is two-fold:

  • Understand the social science (history, political science, economic, culture) context of different environments and how these shape behavior and business practices; and
  • Understand how differences in environments explain differences in business practices and economic behavior/activity, both across program countries and between program countries and the U.S.

*Note: All course prerequisites must be completed by the time of enrollment into the summer course, including program prerequisites of ACCT 2010 and MIS 2200.  Talk to your advisor for more information.
