This fund can be used to provide both education and development opportunities depending on the needs of the program. It will make essential on-the-ground training and support possible through student interns and provide otherwise unavailable capital to less fortunate entrepreneurs around the world.
Each semester students of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business embark on a three month internship to train, support, and assist entrepreneurs in many countries all over the world. This fund makes the SEED program a reality by providing needed assistance to interns for travel and living expenses. Without it, the beneficiaries of the SEED program could not progress and reach the level of knowledge and skill needed to be successful as an entrepreneur.
Because of the training and support of the SEED program, the less fortunate are empowered and given the opportunities they lack to become self-reliant and improve their standard of living in a sustainable way. This fund also provides hard to access capital to qualified participants of the program in the form of a loan so they can own and operate their own successful business.
