Welcome to the top HR program in the West: The Jon M. Huntsman School of Business MSHR Program at Utah State University.

In this unique skill-based MSHR program, our world-class faculty will prepare HR professionals to navigate the global economy, become strategic ethical leaders and impact corporate performance. You'll gain management skills in attracting and developing a productive work force in today's competitive business environment. You'll study team leadership dynamics, interpersonal skills, human resource strategy, talent management, recruiting, compensation, organization development, and more.

Real-world Curriculum

Our competency-based curriculum engages students in real-world projects to enhance their strategic capabilities. Our program is one of only 13 Human Resource degrees that are fully aligned with Society for Human Resource Management curriculum guidelines.

Program Options

The MSHR program offers both an on-campus full time program and a part-time executive online program. The main campus program targets students who have recently completed their undergraduate degree. The executive online program is designed for working professionals who have industry experience.

Main Campus Program

The MSHR Main Campus Program is a full-time program, that has variable day and evening class times offered at USU’s main campus in Logan

  • Students will complete 36-46.5 credits, attending for 3-4 semesters, depending on a student’s undergraduate business coursework
  • Students are typically admitted in the fall
  • Admissions are based upon GPA and GMAT/GRE/MAT test scores
  • Required classes include foundational business acumen coursework (12 credits for those coming from non-business majors), and advanced studies in leadership and HR management
  • A 3-month internship and participation in an intensive international experience are required

Executive Online Program

The Executive Online Program is a part-time online program tailored for working professionals.

  • Students will complete 33-40.5 credits during a one (3 semesters) or two (6 semesters) year period
  • Block coursework – each block last seven weeks (2-3 courses are taught during each block)
  • Admissions are based upon GPA, GMAT/GRE/MAT test scores and relative professional experience is taken into consideration
  • Online courses - Designed especially for working professionals
  • Required classes include foundational business acumen coursework (7.5 credits for those coming from non-business majors), and advanced studies in leadership and HR management
    • Students can complete an optional international experience
