The Management Department is an integral part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business . We are engaged in assessment activities at three levels. First, many of the course sections we teach are part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business core. The college has well-defined learning goals and objectives. Each of these learning goals and objectives is mapped to specific courses within the core curriculum of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business . Courses in the core are assessed with pre-test/post-test comparisons. In addition, a sample of students nearing graduation participates in ETS field exams on a regular basis. Results are detailed in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business assessment site.
Second, each of our undergraduate majors and our masters in human resources degree (MSHR) have specifically-defined learning objectives. The learning goals and objectives for specific majors are mapped to specific courses within our curriculum. The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) provides an independent exam to test the knowledge of our students for our undergraduate degree in Human Resources and the MSHR degree.
Third, each course syllabus defines learning goals and outcome measures for each learning objective. Learning objectives and assessment of those learning objectives are embedded in each course.
