Two Utah State University student leaders lauded the Senate’s compromise bill on student loan interest rates. The agreement includes bringing the rate back down to what it was before it doubled to 6.8 percent in July.
Doug Fiefia, a student member of the Board of Trustees and president of the Associated Students of USU, and Erik Mikkelsen, a student member of the Board of Regents — Utah’s higher education governing board — both made comments on the legislation, which still faces a House vote before going to the president.
